Acupuncture

Acupuncture for orthopedic complaints
Acupuncture is a proven treatment method from traditional Chinese medicine that can be combined excellently with modern orthopedics. In our practice, we use the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of acupuncture specifically for diseases of the musculoskeletal system. By placing fine needles at precisely defined points, we activate the body’s own healing processes and promote blood circulation in the affected tissue.
Acupuncture has been proven to be particularly successful in treating chronic pain, muscle tension, and joint problems. It offers a gentle, virtually side-effect-free alternative or useful supplement to drug therapies and can often delay or avoid surgical intervention. The World Health Organization (WHO) expressly recommends acupuncture for a wide range of orthopedic complaints.
In 1979, the World Health Organization (www.who.int) published a list of indications.
In 1996, the German federal government included needle acupuncture as a medical service with two positions in the Schedule of Fees for Doctors (GOÄ). It has been officially recognized as a medical treatment method ever since.
In 2004, the German Medical Association (www.bundesaerztekammer.de) introduced acupuncture as a medical training course with a subsequent examination.
